Larnaca is a seaside town with a palm tree lined promenade for your evening stroll. The Church of St Lazarus is from the 9th century and was built around the saint’s tomb. The mosque of Hala Sultan Tekke houses the tomb of Umm Haram, foster mother of the prophet Mohammed, who died there during a siege. Next to the mosque is a huge salt lake – if you are lucky, you will see the pink flamingos that migrate there in winter.
