The city has been re-built several times, the last being following the second world war when it had been badly bombed by allied forces, it has now become the centre for Germany's high tech industries. It is a modern up to date city with lots of cultural entertainment, but it still has the old town and the old traditions such as the Christmas market held every November/December. It is also the home to the German National Football Museum and to the former European Champions Burussia Dortmund.
