Phalaborwa Airport Guide
Henrik Van Eck Airport in Phalaborwa is small as it only services one route; to Johannesburg. The airport has a limited number of facilities but provided you go well prepared you shouldn’t encounter any inconveniences. Its size does mean that getting through after landing is quick and there are hire cars available at the airport. Procedures on the day of departure are also smooth and quick.
Phalaborwa Airport Directions
The airport is to the east of the city, right on the edge of the urban boundary and it’s easy to get into the centre by following the R71, Henrik Van Eck Street west as it leaves the airport.
Phalaborwa Airport Parking
Phalaborwa Airport has plenty of parking for the small number of passengers that use it. It’s become a popular way of getting into the town and also for the locals to get to the bright lights of Jo’burg. You’ll find parking there for the less mobile and there’s usually someone on hand to help if you need assistance.
Phalaborwa Airport Flight InformationPhalaborwa Airport has only one route and that’s to Johannesburg. It’s much easier to fly into Johannesburg from Europe or the UK and take a connecting flight there than fly to the nearest international airport – again Johannesburg, and hire a car there for a journey of several hundred miles.
Hotels Near Phalaborwa Airport
There are plenty of fabulous places to stay in Phalaborwa and all of them very reasonably priced. Try the La Lechere Guest House. It’s so much more than that and offers four star accommodation with an attractive pool for only £48 a night. We also like the Sefapane Lodge and Safaris, only a kilometre from the edge of the Kruger National Park and again, great value at £72 a night.
