Burgos Guide
Few inland cities in Spain are popular as tourist destinations, mainly because of the extreme heat encountered in the summer months. Whilst Burgos is one of those cities, it deserves more attention for several reasons. The spectacular UNESCO listed cathedral holds the entombed body of the great Spanish hero, El Cid whilst the city itself is a stop on the Way of St James leading to Santiago de Compostela. You’ll find plenty of evidence of the importance of religion in the city from the cathedral to monasteries and convents, many of which open their doors to visitors.
