Caceres Guide
There is plenty to do in this town which has been called the Spanish Carcassone for its history and architecture. If you want to start at the very beginning, visit the Maltravieso Caves nearby which show that the region was occupied in prehistoric times. Back into the city you can’t fail to be impressed by the city walls, built and strengthened many times over the millennia. Within them you’ll find an almost untouched medieval quarter which has been the setting for many period movies whilst the architecture of the adjacent Jewish quarter is almost imperceptibly different. Today, there’s nothing better than a stroll through both parts of the city, pausing for a refreshing drink at one of the many cafes along the way.

The airport is 77 km south west of Caceres. In a hire car, the best route is to take the EX100 north east. It takes around an hour.
Caceres Parking
Car parking at Badajoz Airport is found very close to the terminal building. There are only just over 220 spaces but that’s plenty as it’s a small regional airport that doesn’t get too busy.
Caceres Flight InformationBadajoz Airport serves only domestic flights but is a lot nearer Caceres than the closest international airport. You’ll have to weigh up the possible extra cost and time to take a connecting flight to Barcelona, Madrid or Malaga but with budget flights to these destinations, you shouldn’t pay much more.
