Calpe Guide
Calpe is a very historic town on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. It has signs of prehistoric occupation but it was the Romans who developed it. The famous Els Banys de la Reina are the most important remains appertaining to the Roman period and well worth a look. Outside of the town itself, there are great walks to be had along the coast whilst the salt flats where salt was harvested for centuries is now a haven for migratory birds and a favourite haunt of birdwatchers.
