Elche Guide
Once you’ve exhausted the shoe shops it’s time to see a little more of what makes Elche, or Elx as it is sometimes known, a popular destination. A good place to start is in the ‘Garden of Palms’, a plantation of over 200,000 date palms that is once again UNESCO accredited for its uniqueness. You’ll be very close to Altamira Castle which has been a factory, a prison and a town hall before gaining its present role as a museum. Finally take a wander around the Arabic Baths which were converted from the former Roman ones on the same site.
Elche Directions
Many airlines fly into Alicante from regional and national UK airports so you’ll be spoilt for choice. Both Ryanair and easyJet make the trip so it’s not going to be expensive to travel. From the airport, simply follow the A7 southwest in your hire car for the 30 minute journey.
