Fuerteventura Airport Guide
Unlike the rest of the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura has white sandy beaches with the best of them found along the northern and southern coasts. It’s there that the main resorts have sprung up. You may simply want the sun, sand and sea for your holiday but by hiring a car you can explore the mountains of the centre and with a little Spanish, discover how the people make a living in the traditional villages. Whilst Fuerteventura is a biosphere reserve, you’ll not find a huge amount of visible wildlife as the award mainly recognises the insect life of the island but there are plenty of fish, and often whales and dolphins, in the seas off the island.

Fuerteventura’s airport is found 5 km south of the capital of the island, Puerto del Rosario. The airport is right on the coast and the main road leading from it to the capital, the FV2, tracks inland. Once you’ve got your bags and collected your hire car, you are no more than ten minutes from the centre of the capital.
