Gran Canaria Airport Guide
Gran Canaria has often been described as a miniature continent for there is such a variety of things to see and do there. Begin in the capital, Las Palmas, which is one of Spain’s biggest cities. The Santa Ana Cathedral can be seen from most parts of the city and is beautiful inside. The main tourist resort is Playa del Ingles whose name sums up much of what you can expect; dozens of high rise hotels, crowded beaches and fast food. For somewhere altogether more relaxing and beautiful, take a jeep safari into the miles of sand dunes at Maspalomas where you could think you were in Arabia.
Gran Canaria Airport Directions
Las Palmas Airport is right on the coast on the Bay of Gando and 17 km from the capital Las Palmas. Getting into the capital is simple as the coast road; the GC1 goes directly from the airport to the city. The journey should take no longer than 25 minutes by hire car.
Gran Canaria Airport Parking
The airport has a multi-storey car park arranged over three levels with a total of 1,250 spaces. There are over fifty spaces reserved for those with reduced mobility and the whole car park is adjacent to the terminal building, minutes from the arrivals and departure halls.
Gran Canaria Airport Flight InformationFlights to Gran Canaria come from all across Europe. From Britain there is a wide choice of seasonal flights from the tour operators whilst Ryanair and easyJet offer year round flights from several regional and national airports.
Hotels Near Gran Canaria Airport
With so many hotels on Gran Canaria you have a great choice and at reasonably low prices. We like the five star Sercotel Cristina Las Palmas which is right on the beach and starts from 80 euros a night. The three star Hotel Parque is clean and comfortable but will set you back almost half that.
Gran Canaria Time Zone
Gran Canaria is on the same time as the UK and located in the Western European Time Zone (GMT). It adds an hour in summertime.
