Jaen Guide
Jaen’s main attraction is its location in the Santa Catalina Mountains and from many parts of the city you’ll gain a dramatic view of the mountains around you. In the city there are a number of places to visit including the Saint Catherine Castle which was built in the 13th century on top of a ruined Arab castle. The cathedral is a must see too being the best example of a renaissance cathedral in Spain. Completed over more than a century, it displays a range of architectural styles. Under Villardompardo’s Palace you’ll find the Arab Baths, again noteworthy as the oldest and biggest remaining in Spain.
Jaen Directions
Despite being called Granada Jaen Airport, you’ll find it’s at least an hour’s drive from the city to the airport. If you’re hiring a car then you need to find the E902 north which will take you directly into Jaen. Granada Jaen Airport serves mostly domestic flights with the exception of Paris Orly. To get to Jaen from the UK, you must first connect to Paris, Madrid or Barcelona and you’ll have a range of fare choices for each of the routes.

For an amazing experience, stay at the Parador de Jaen which is an old fortress built along a crest of a ridge. The views are amazing. Equally fabulous but in a different way is the Hotel Campo de Baeza, a funky contemporary hotel which surprisingly isn’t too expensive!
