The most popular place for tourists in Leon is the huge cathedral. It has some of the most remarkable stained glass windows in Europe and is breath-taking. Try some of the other historic churches too such as the Collegiate Church of San Isodoro with its beautifully decorated Pantheon of the Kings next door. Leon is south of its nearest airport at Asturias. To get there in a hire car, take the AP66 south for 110 km, about 75 minutes’ drive and you’ll be there. To get in from the UK you’ll have to use the only route; easyJet’s Stansted to Asturias flight but at least you’re getting it cheap!
