Lugo Guide
Lugo is a great place to explore and just soak up the atmosphere of the old city. Everyone should begin with a walk around the 2km of the city walls from which you’ll get a great view of the city, especially as they rise to 15m in places. The cathedral is also a great place to explore; built in the 12th century it is revered across Spain for its sacramental privileges. Lugo also enjoys riotous festivals including the Saint Froilan Festival, considered of national importance.
Lugo Directions
The shortest and most scenic route from Santiago de Compostela Airport to Lugo is along the N547 although you can also take the more major route via the E1 to A Coruna and then the E70 south east to Lugo. Although a very busy airport, Santiago de Compostela has only one route from the UK and that’s with Ryanair from Stansted. Due to the popularity of the pilgrimage site, there’s also an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin.
