Moraira Guide

The beach is a big draw in Moraira but it has plenty else to offer. It has set itself up as a culinary destination and a walk along the promenade will find several classy restaurants serving fusion and Mediterranean dishes with the emphasis on fish. The town has plenty of open spaces too with pine clad areas as well as parks and gardens. Scuba diving and snorkelling is popular around the rocky coves and inlets.

Moraira Directions

Travelling by car from Alicante Airport you should take the coastal highway, the E15, north towards Javea, turning off on the N332 at Tuelada and following the signs to the coast at Moraira. Alicante Airport has a number of flights from the UK, including several routes with budget carriers. You’ll find that flights to Alicante are very reasonable.

Hotels Near Moraira Airport

Hotels in and around Moraira cater for the mass tourism market but looking slightly further afield will help you find better quality hotels at similar or lower prices. Try the SH Villa Gadea for a perfect pampered break. The 100 euro a night price tag is actually great value for money considering the service offered. Elsewhere, the Apartamentos Victoria Beach is another gem; a good quality basic hotel and at only 37 euros a night.

Moraira Info

Despite being on the crowded and sometimes tacky Costa Blanca, Moraira has managed to retain an air of respectability over the years of change. Whilst little remains of the tiny but busy fishing port area, the boats still ply in and out of the harbour each day and one or two old cottages remain. Careful planning laws by the municipality mean that it’s not all high rise and concreted over and the resort is pretty with its abundant wild pine trees and open spaces.

Moraira Trivia:
  • Moraira is a small town found on the busy Costa Blanca
  • It used to be a sleepy fishing port until the advent of tourism in the 70s
  • The region is renowned for the production of Moscatel wine.
  • It’s a popular destination for retiring expatriates from northern Europe
