Murcia is a university town with its roots strongly in agriculture. There are baroque churches and palaces to see as well as pretty countryside and beaches in the surrounding area. A few highlights are the Cathedral of Murcia built between 1394-1465 in Castilian Gothic style and the 17th century Palacio del Almudi. Whilst in the town, visit the Salzillo Museum where you can see carved wooden religious sculptures, they are famous for looking very life-like.
