Asheville Airport Guide
Asheville is not high on most people’s ‘must see’ parts of the US but it certainly should be. There are many marvellous architectural sights including the Biltmore Estate, a renaissance inspired French chateau with fabulous formal gardens which make you feel you have been transported to the Loire.
Another amazing building is the Basilica of St Lawrence, completed in the early part of the 20th century, it has a stunning interior and is on the list of National Historic Buildings. Elsewhere throughout the city there are countless art deco public buildings that make great subjects for photos.
Asheville Airport Directions
Asheville has its own small airport which takes only domestic flights. To get there from outside the US you’d have to make a connection at one of the major east coast airports. For international travellers, Charlotte Douglas Airport about ninety minutes away is the best point of arrival with US Airways operating a daily flight from London Gatwick. If you drive the journey, route 74 goes direct from Charlotte Airport west to Asheville.
