Hilo Airport Guide
You’ll never run out of things to do and see in Hilo. Built on two massive shield volcanoes, you can take guided tours up close to the craters and marvel at the energy of the earth. Do not attempt the trip unguided as one of the volcanoes is very active. High up on their slopes you’ll find the Imiloa Astronomy Centre, built there to avoid much of the world’s light and chemical pollution. You can take a tour of it and get to star gaze. For a bit of fun, be there after Easter for the Merry Monarch Festival which celebrates the history of the hula dance.

Hotels Near Hilo Airport
The cheapest hotel you’ll find in Hilo whilst not sacrificing quality is the Yoga 360 Bed and Breakfast. Still costing $40 a night, you’ll be well looked after for the money. We also like the Castle Hilo as it has wonderful views from the stunning location.
