Whilst no Manhattan, Indianapolis is renowned for its skyline with several skyscrapers and the biggest Marriott hotel in the world as well as having the biggest Scottish Rite church in the world.
History plays an important role in the city’s culture and there are several monuments to historical events. A much underrated place to visit is the Soldier and Sailor’s Monument which is only very slightly shorter than the Statue of Liberty but much less well known.
You can’t visit Indianapolis without seeing the Speedway Hall of Fame which documents the history of the Indie 500 race. Winners from the past are on display there and many of the most exciting races are chronicled there.
Indianapolis Airport Directions
Take route 70 direct from the airport northeast into Indianapolis city centre. You’ll find that once you’re out of the airport, the journey is under fifteen minutes by hire car.

Parking is very well organised at Indianapolis Airport. You can use the cell phone lot if you are simply collecting a passenger or valet parking if you’re flying off in a hurry. Additionally, there are the regular short and long term parking areas, all within a few minutes of the terminal.

The Ramada Inn is one of the cheapest hotels in Indianapolis but still offers high levels of comfort and service from only $22 a night. More upscale is the Best Western Crossroads, only a little more expensive at $33 a night but with more facilities.
