Marquette Airport Guide
Strangely, the iron ore industry attracts visitors to the city today. Many come to marvel at the size and operation of the huge ships as they dock at the port. The lake is the best draw though. Accessed at several points through the city, you can simply sit and look at it or take a small boat to row on it or catch a Lake Superior cruise ship and spend the day gliding around the coast. Marquette is a favourite haunt for mountain bikers with hundreds of miles of trails, many of them very testing and with two major mountain bike races each year including the ‘Ore to Shore’ where cyclists travel from the mines to the lakeside, a journey of 25 miles over very rough terrain.
