Travel Guide To Los Angeles

Arriving at LAX, step out of the airport doors, making sure you look your best, slide on those shades and you’ll immediately fit in with the beautiful people that inhabit America’s second largest city and its entertainment capital. It wasn’t always this way and to see the city in its earliest form, slip into your hire car and take a drive down Olvera Street. It’s there that you’ll find LA’s oldest building, sadly not the pueblo that started the city but the street is impressive enough even without it.

Museums in LA
Every city in the world has a museum of sorts but none are finer than the Getty Centre which has a fabulous art collection, funded by the Getty billions, set in beautiful gardens which overlook the city. The entrance fee is worth it just for the view, before you get to see the art. You can also visit the smaller original museum in the Pacific Palisades district if you haven’t had enough of culture.

Not To Miss
Used as a place of reflection in many films including LA Story, Griffiths Park is a fantastic place to get away from the tinsel of the city and enjoy a fabulous view of LA. Follow Bronson Avenue and the street turns into a trail which eventually returns to a paved street as it rejoins the famous Mulholland Drive, also favoured by movie directors.

Other things that shouldn’t be missed during your stay include shopping in Beverley Hills, another iconic drive down Sunset Boulevard and a stroll along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Eating Out
If you get hungry there are thousands of restaurants and more unusual places to eat around the city. If money is tight but you want great food, try one of the many gourmet fast food trucks dotted around Los Angeles. With a huge variety of food being served including French, Filipino, Mexican and more, you’ll get a delicious meal for only a few bucks. If you’ve planned to see and be seen, put your best togs on and try the Water Grill in the Old Bank district where you’ll find the best seafood and be likely to bump into the rich and famous. The same can be said of the Pacific Dining Car, a converted railway carriage where the intelligentsia of the city eat.

Disney Land
No trip to LA would be complete without a visit to Disneyland in Orange County. Acknowledged as the world’s best theme park, your kids will love you forever and you just know you’re going to come away with armfuls of cuddly Disney characters.
